To ring in the Lunar New Year with style and innovation, the Golden Arches teamed up with Chinese-Peruvian fashion trailblazer Humberto Leon (co-founder of streetwear label Opening Ceremony) to celebrate the Year of the Tiger in the metaverse.
Marking the brand’s first major VR activation, the McDonald’s Hall of Zodiacs was a fully immersive exhibition inspired by cultural traditions dating back thousands of years -- and brought to vivid life with the latest cutting-edge technology. The experience invited guests to discover their zodiac animal and receive a personal horoscope reading for the new year from one of 12 displays; each custom designed by Leon.
To promote the Hall of Zodiacs, a 360 campaign was launched that featured a national TV spot, in-store activations, social media promotions and influencer engagement, which yielded international headlines and unprecedented social buzz.
